Culinary Medicine Initiative
Culinary medicine blends the art of cooking with the science of food and nutrition and the practice of medicine to treat, prevent, and reverse disease.i
The University of Arizona Culinary Medicine Initiative is connecting community members, farmers, chefs, and health professionals with University of Arizona students, faculty, and resources designed to address food and nutrition security of Arizonans.
Our Initiative is currently focused on two related goals:
- Goal 1. Produce resources and curriculum to support student training in culinary medicine; in particular, students in medical school and the allied health professions (nursing, pharmacy, public health, nutrition).
- Goal 2. Build a statewide network of organizations that utilize our resources and students to enhance programs that address nutrition security and diet-sensitive diseases.
